Jaclyn Miller

The Timba Titan Meets DJ Walt Digz

Jaclyn Miller

Jaclyn grew up in a family full of musicians and dancers and would describe herself as a life-long dancer. She has a hard time pinpointing exactly when she fell in love with dancing because she feels like it’s always been a part of her. Jaclyn began dancing as a small child taking ballet, tap and jazz lessons. Her childhood and young adult life included a variety of other dance experiences including waltz, polka, east-coast swing, hip-hop, zydeco, line dancing and square dancing. In fact, even at the very beginning of her relationship with her husband, dancing (especially swing dancing) was a big part of how they enjoyed spending time together and they have continued to keep dancing a vital part of their marriage to this day including spending many years attending a variety of both swing and salsa lessons and events.

Some highlights from the plethora of dance experiences she has had include choreographing and performing a short dance number as a part of her bid for the title of Miss Greenbelt when she was in high school; dancing a swing dance routine with her husband as the final dance at their wedding reception; teaching salsa basics to a group of young married couples as a part of a church event; and using partner dancing concepts (including a dance demo) to help illustrate marriage principles as a part of a sermon she co-taught with her husband.

Jaclyn’s connection to Rueda de Casino started in 2025 when she and her husband started taking lessons from Michael Fok and Cedric Teamer as part of a flash mob experience and they instantly became hooked. They started participating in weekly rueda de casino lessons and this re-awakened her passion for dancing. Since then Jaclyn has become proficient in calling the rueda circle; has continued fine-tuning her skills as both a leader and a follower in rueda de casino dancing and casino partner dancing; and has recently started to assist Cedric Teamer while he is teaching classes.

Since her introduction to casino dancing (especially in the rueda) Jaclyn has also had the opportunity to participate in various Casino events in the DMV area including Rueda de la Calle DC; the Baltimore Cuban Salsa Party; a Baltimore Salsa Meetup event and Latin Monday’s at Talara. These events have given Jaclyn the opportunity to train with from some of the best instructors and groups including Duanne Wren, Adrian Valdivia, Amanda Gill, Daybert Linares Diaz, Yadiel Suarez, SALSAROUND, DC Casineros and Saoco DC. Jaclyn has also had the opportunity to participate in a student demo at GeorgiaBoyDance’s 5th Anniversary; perform a rueda de casino routine at the UC Star Awards; and more recently, participate in three Rueda de Casino flash mobs at Baltimore’s Artscape Festival.

Outside of her passion for dancing, Jaclyn has a variety of other passions to which she devotes time and energy. Jaclyn was originally trained as an Architect and graduated from UMCP’s School of Architecture in 1999. She spent several years working in architecture before she quit her job to travel overseas with her husband. Jaclyn spent a little over a year living in Germany with her husband and traveling all over Europe and beyond. When Jaclyn and her husband moved back to the US in 2006, she decided not to continue with architecture but rather to devote her time to her family and to volunteer work. Currently, Jaclyn is a stay-at-home mother and she regularly volunteers her time and efforts at Monarch Academy where her children attend school; at Birthright of North Anne Arundel County, Inc. (a local emergency pregnancy service); and at Fusion Fellowship Church which has been her spiritual home for the past four years. In addition to all of this Jaclyn uses any remaining free time to practice yoga, garden, read and craft.
